Between the rights guaranteed under the European Convention on Human Rights and the types of control and exception to which they are subject, there is a complex relationship. Conflicts inevitably arise between the implementation of the rights guaranteed under Articles 8 to 11 and the limitations which may be imposed for the purposes of protecting either the general interest of the state or the interests of sections of society or of individuals. This monograph studies the case-law covering such exceptions, adressing aspects of the fundamental philosophy of the Convention.
