Protocol No. 16 to the Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms - Council of Europe Treaty Series No. 214 (2014)

This new protocol will allow the highest courts and tribunals of a State Party to request the Court to give advisory opinions on questions of principle relating to the interpretation or application of the rights and freedoms defined in the Convention or the protocols thereto.

The Council of Europe Treaty Series (CETS) contains the official versions of all the conventions and agreements adopted within the Council of Europe, numbered in the chronological order of their opening for signature. The date on the cover of the publication is that of the opening of the treaty for signature.
