The re-introduction of the lynx into the Alps (Environement Encounters No. 38) (1998)
The lynx was re-introduced in the 1970s in the Jura mountains, the Swiss Alps and Slovenia, in a remarkable effort to revive a wonderful species that had long ago become extinct in the Alps. Twenty-five years later the species is still present, but faces new challenges which were analysed and discussed at a conference held in Engelberg, Switzerland.
