Tourism development has numerous impact on socio-economic balance and natural and cultural heritage. On the basis of three pilot studies in Latvia, Ukraine and Romania, the Riga Colloquy examined the conditions and results of the integration of biological and landscape diversity conservation, as well as the socio-economic aspects in tourism development programmes in western, central and eastern Europe.
